Q: What is QuickCast?
A:
QuickCast is a totally free, real-time weather and news headline
application that resides on your desktop and keeps you posted on
local current conditions, weather alerts, and breaking news. It
provides live streaming national radar images that can be zoomed
in and out as well as local radar images. With QuickCast, you get
immediate notification of weather warnings from the National Weather
Service. You will be informed of the latest news from the
studios of KWON-KFYM-KPGM-KRIG. You get the local temperature,
wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, humidity and dew
point in your area.
Q: Can I choose the location from which
I get my current conditions, such as temperature?
A: Yes, all download users choose from one of many
locations around the northeast Oklahoma/southeast Kansas area.
Q: How often are weather conditions updated?
A: Conditions such as temperature, wind, etc. are normally
updated once every hour. On some occasions, a report may not be issued every
hour, in which case the temperature will remain the same until that reporting
location provides an updated report. Warnings are issued immediately after
release from the National Weather Service.
Q: Can I change my mind and select a different
location later?
A: Yes, simply right click the temperature in your Windows
task bar or click on the Menu link in the Current Conditions window of QuickCast.
Then, select options, and select the new location from the drop down menu.
Q: How often do you update news stores?
A: News is updated simultaneously with our website throughout
the day. You can expect breaking weather and news delivered to your desktop with
the same immediacy you expect from our local news site without having to do a
thing but click on the News link and select a story to view. Every time
a story is added or changed in our local news section the News link on QuickCast
Current Conditions window will flash. If you have the application minimized
to the temperature only, you just double click on the temperature in the task
bar.
Q: What are the system requirements for
installing QuickCast?
A: As a minimum, you should have Windows 95/98. QuickCast
also operates on Windows 2000/NT4 SP6/XP.

Q: How large is the download for QuickCast?
A: The download application is 2.96 MB in
size.
Q: How do I install QuickCast?
A: Download the application to your desktop. Once downloaded,
the installation should begin, if not, double click on the downloaded install
file. The installation software will guide you as you install the application
on your desktop. To install QuickCast, simply click on the download image.
There will be a brief registration form to fill out.

Q: The temperature in the Current Conditions
display is wrong...why?
A: QuickCast requires that you be connected to the Internet.
It does not require the use of a web browser or e-mail program, but the connection
to the Internet must be made. Users with dial-up modems may want to stop
and start the application as they use the Internet on their computer for current
information.
Q: How much of my Windows system resources
will be used?
A: QuickCast application will use approximately
12 Megabytes of your system memory.
Q: I installed QuickCast but when I click on My Personal Forecast
and try to login, I get a message that tells me "the e-mail address is not on
file."
A: QuickCast and Personal Forecast are two separate products.
You must be signed up for Personal Forecast before you can log in through the
link on QuickCast Current Conditions window. Personal Forecast requires
more specific information about your location to enable the Hour-by-Hour forecast
to be constructed. You will find a link on the Personal Forecast login
page to subscribe to the service.
Q: What do I do if I have problems with
QuickCast and how do I reach Technical Support?
A: Simply click
on the Menu Options link in the Quickcat Current Conditions window
and select Technical Support. Fill in the e-mail with your problem
and someone will get back in touch with you as soon as possible.
