Law enforcement from across the state of Oklahoma is in Tulsa today to educate the public about information in a controversial bill authored by Republican State Senator Kyle Loveless which would make sweeping changes to the state's civil asset forfeiture laws. Law enforcement says the bill would hinder their efforts and make Oklahoma a safe haven for drug cartels.

Senator Loveless had agreed to be part of an official interim study by the Oklahoma Senate to learn more about asset forfeiture procedures and the concerns of law enforcement. Late last week, Loveless withdrew from the study and plans to convene a “panel meeting' at the State Capitol instead. The law enforcement presentations took place this afternoon at the Tulsa Police Academy. Those in favor of the legislation spoke during a morning session.
