The son of slain Oklahoma Labor Commissioner was arraigned by video in an Oklahoma County courtroom on Wednesday. Special Judge Russell Hall entered a “not guilty” plea for 26-year-old Christian Costello, who stood mute during the arraignment. Costello is charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of his father, 59-year-old Mark Costello. Hall appointed a public defender for the younger Costello and set a preliminary hearing for September 24.

Authorities say that Mark Costello was stabbed to death by his son Christian at an Oklahoma City Braums Restaurant on August 23. Police interviewed more than a dozen witnesses who said they saw Christian Costello stabbing his father in the head and neck.
