Sunday, October 4 begins Mental Health Awareness Week, which was established as the first week of October by the U.S. Congress in 1990. The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has a number of events scheduled next week beginning on Sunday with a candlelight vigil at Torrey Place Apartments, located at S.E. Third Street and Seneca Avenue in Bartlesville, beginning at 6:00 P.M. Service Coordinator Cheryl Gillette said that those having issues should not be afraid to ask for help.

At noon on Tuesday, October 6, a Day of Prayer, also takes place at Torrey Place Apartments. Bi-Polar Awareness Day is October 8 for a gathering at 6:30 P.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church and a guest speaker at 7 P.M. To close out the week, a chili supper and fundraiser happens on Sunday, October 10, from 5 until 7 P.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
