A Bartlesville man who is accused of choking his girlfriend and breaking into her home has waived preliminary hearing and is bound over for formal arraignment.  Derrick Maurice Kellum is charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation and first degree burglary.  Back in June of this year, Bartlesville police were called to the 2200 block of SE Dewey to investigate a possible burglary.

According to a court affidavit, the woman told Kellum not to come over to her house and was afraid of his past acts.  The victim blocked the front door with a large chair and table.  Reportedly, Kellum kicked the front door, moved the chair and table away, attacked his girlfriend, and choked her.  Neighbors were able to hear the woman scream, got into the home, and chased the suspect away.  The police were able to find Kellum a short time later.

Kellum's next court date is October 14th on the formal arraignment docket.
