OKWU Splits At Kansas Wesleyan

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles picked up a solid road victory Tuesday night at Salina, Kanas with a 91-82 win over Kansas Wesleyan University while the Lady Eagles lost 83-78.

The Lady Eagles got off to a slow start in the first period, but trailed 15-13.  OKWU got things going in the second period and led 30-29 at halftime.  The Coyotes went on a 10-2 run early in the third period and outscored OKWU 23-11.  The Lady Eagles come back was a little bit short as they lost by seven points.  As a team, Kansas Wesleyan made eight of their nine 3-pointers in the second half and shot 34 percent.  Overall, the Coyotes shot 40 percent.  Kansas Wesleyan's Stephanie Lichtenauer led with a game high 25 points while Jordyn Alexander finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds.  OKWU's Kayla Morgan led the team with 13 points while Yessenia Hernadez added 12 points.  Cheyenne Been came off the bench and finished with 11 points while Patience Gitau had a double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Gitau's 10 points came in the second half.  As a team, Lady Eagles shot 37 percent from the field and 34 percent from the 3-point line.  OKWU's bench scored 40 of the team's 76 points.  Lady Eagles drop to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in KCAC play.

It was an important road win for the Eagles as they were without two of their top players and escaped with a nine-point victory.  The Eagles led 47-41 at halftime and outscored the Coyotes 44-41 in the second half to pick up the win.  OKWU's Breiman Alexander led with a career high 34 points, going 10 of 20 from the field and went 11 for 11 from the free throw line.  Ryan Schuessler finished with 13 points while Jake Feickert added 12 points.  The Eagles shot 38 percent from the field and shot 35 percent from the 3-point line.  Kansas Wesleyan was led by Dominique Johnson with 27 points.  The Coyotes shot 41 percent from the field.  The Eagles improve to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in KCAC play.

The Eagles next will play at Friends University on Thursday, December 3rd.  Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles will next be in action this Saturday afternoon as they will host Central Christian College.  Game time is set for 3 o'clock at Bartlesville.
