County commissioners from across Oklahoma traveled to the state capital on Tuesday to plead their case to state legislators. Washington County Commissioner Mike Bouvier was there along with about 60 others. The idea was to let legislators, who are working on ways to balance a big budget deficit, know the need for roads and bridges to be kept in good shape.

Bouvier said if legislators put a cap on “road cash” his job and the job of other county commissioners, will be that much more difficult. Bouvier did say that some road projects are being made possible with funding from the Cherokee Nation. County road commissioners, along with all other agencies that receive state funding, will just have to wait to see what state legislators come up with.
