Legality concerns over previous board actions prompt an election of new board members at the Washington County SPCA Wednesday evening. In efforts to achieve better transparency the board chose to return to the last official vote to reinstate previous executive board officers.

After the motion and resulting approval Dana Doornbos-Keirsey was elected President of the WCSPCA board. Darlene Shoemake was elected the First Vice President, Deanna McDonald Second Vice President, Kayla Wilson Secretary, and John Fress Treasurer. Doornbos made member Michael Kemp the Member at Large who will also serve on the Executive Board. Danny Holtsclaw, Bryan Acker, Keith Sheffield, and Walter Lajara are also members on the board.

The Board also made a motion to nominate additional members. Scott Ambler, Janis Blanton, and Sharon Hurst were approved.

Another concern was brought up by Treasurer John Fress. He stated during the Treasurer's report that the organization will be ending the month with a negative balance. He estimates they will need $1,000 a day in donations to stay on budget for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Member Keith Sheffield recommended the organization undergo an audit and Fress made a motion to enter into contract with Stotts, Archambo, Mueggenborg, & Barclay for accounting services; the board approved.

The board will soon need to update their contract with the City of Bartlesville to continue to serve as City Pound, and a formal recommendation was made to revise and clarify the WCSPCA's existing bylaws.
