The Oklahoma Senate has given the approval to pass a bill that will remove end of instruction exams in Oklahoma public schools. Senate Education Chair, and State Senator, John Ford presented the bill on Wednesday. Ford says the bill will save more than just money for public schools.

The bill will reduce the number of mandatory state tests from 26 to 18…a number that teachers and students have been fighting for. Representative Earl Sears says that they have worked alongside teachers for to create the legislation.

The bill has been sent to Governor Mary Fallin. If signed by Governor Fallin, it would be up to local school districts to create graduation requirements for students.
