The City of Bartlesville will observe Memorial Day on Monday.  Members of The American Legion Post 105, the American Heritage Association, the Blue Star Mothers and the Patriot Guard Riders will join local elected officials at White Rose Cemetery for the observance at 9 o'clock.

Memorial Day dates back to the Civil War when the country took time to honor those from both sides who gave their lives in service to their countries.  White Rose Cemetery is the final resting place for some of Bartlesville’s best known public figures — including George Keeler and Nellie Johnstone — as well as many other, lesser known residents, some whose deaths date back to when Oklahoma was Indian Territory.

Last year about 130 people attended the Memorial Day Ceremony, including local dignitaries and a Pearl Harbor survivor.
