Smartphone Vision Loss
Ben Nicholas
In a new report by the New England Journal of Medicine, doctors describe a case of “transient smartphone blindness.” The report came after two women complained that they suffered from reoccurring vision loss episodes, some lasting up to 15 minutes. Doctors eventually found out that the episodes came from the women looking at their smartphones while on their side in bed. With one eye adjusting to the light of the phone, and the other adjusting to the darkness, the adaptation of light can take minutes to finally adjust.
The solution to this is simple. Make sure you use both eyes to look at the screen while in the dark.
