Aircraft Accident Kills Two Men

An investigation is under way into an accident Thursday night that caused the death of an Owasso man and an Air Force Lieutenant from Vance Air Force Base.  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports 55 year-old Randall Lee Harris of Owasso was flying a fixed-wing aircdraft southbound near Fairmont in Garfield County when he attempted an aerobatic maneuver.  Harris lost control of the Skybolt 300 and it hit the ground in an open field 2.8 miles easat and a mile north of Fairmont.

Medical Examiner, Rory Garien is quoted in the report as certifying that Harris and his passenger, 25 year-old First Lieutenant Dale Bryan Shillington died at the scene.  The two men were pinned inside the aircraft for approximately one hour before the Covington Fire Department could extricate them using the jaws of life. 

The accident remains under investigation.
