Bartlesville voters came out Tuesday in support of their teachers and the local school system to approve a 19.4 million dollar bond proposal.  Question number one passed with 4,081 yes votes to 1,776 no votes for 69.68 percent of participating voters saying yes.  A transportation bond passed with 72.57 percent of voters approving.  The vote was 4,259 yes to 1,610 no votes

Superintendent of Schools, Chuck McCauley thanked every voter who said yes but in particular he had words of thanks for the community members who advocated for the issue.

McCauley empathized particularly with the teachers after the board had to cut jobs at the end of last school year because of cuts in state funding.  He said a no vote would have been devastating.

Nearly every tax question hits people on fixed income.  McCauley says he understands how difficult it was for some people to support the issue.

The local school district will start see the increased funding around the end of the year, just about the time it uses up the money in its cash balance writing to pay employees in December.
