Nowata Pounds Caney Valley
The Nowata Ironmen took care of business Friday night at Ramona, Oklahoma with a 50-6 win over the Caney Valley Trojans. Nowata took advantage after a Trojan turnover early in the first quarter when Bryce Hewitt scored on a 30-yard run to take a 6-0 lead. Caney Valley on their next possession tied the game at six on a 15 yard touchdown pass from Hunter Hines to Phillip Valentine. Nowata reponded on their next possession when Will Luster scored on a 50 yard run. Luster rushed for 140 yards and scored two touchdowns. Nowata's Tarrell Collins rushed for 238 yards on 14 carries. As a team, Nowata finished the evening with 525 yards of total offense, with 513 yards on the ground, while Caney Valley finished with 147 yards of total offense.
Caney Valley falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in district play. The Trojans will travel to Nowata County next Friday night as they will take on Oklahoma Union. Nowata will host Wyandotte next Friday night. The Ironmen are 3-2 overall and 1-0 in district play.
