Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams took on Ottawa University Thursday evening at Bartlesville in a KCAC showdown.  It was a sweep by Ottawa as the Lady Eagles lost 70-49 and the Eagles fall 76-68.

Poor shooting was a factor for the Lady Eagles as they shot 24 percent from the field and shot 16 percent from the arc.  Lady Braves were tougher in the paint and blocked six OKWU shots inside the paint.  Ottawa led 35-25 at halftime and outscored OKWU 35-24 in the second half to pick up the win. Shelbie Kirby and Tiffany Rieger led with 16 points a piece.  Rieger's 16 points were scored in the first half.  Ottawa out rebounded OKWU 56-36.  Lady Eagles fall to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in KCAC play.

In the mens game, the Eagles got off to a good start leading 7-2, but couldn't hold on as Ottawa came back and led 35-34 at halftime.  The Braves outscored the Eagles 41-34 in the second half, and led as many as 20 points.  OKWU cut the lead to five points late in the game, but Ottawa made their free throws down the stretch to go home with a win.

Jake Feickert came off the bench, made five 3-pointers and led with 15 points.  AJ Jack and Ryan Schuessler finished with 10 points a piece. Eagles committed 29 turnovers, despite out rebounding the Braves 48-34.  Eagles shot 34 percent from the field and shot 30 percent from the arc.  OKWU drops to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in KCAC play.

Next up for the Eagles and Lady Eagles will be this Saturday afternoon at Winfield, Kansas against Southwestern College.  Ladies play at 3 while the Men will play at 5 o'clock.  You can hear the games on Sports Talk 99.1 FM KPGM.
