Washington County District Attorney's Office has announced that they will not be pursuing charges against a Bartlesville police officer for the shooting death of William Cole.  In a press release, District Attorney Kevin Buchanan said that the office received the results of the OSBI investigation of the shooting which occurred on October 26th.  The report includes interviews of Bartlesville police officers, private citizens, a female victim, and photos of the scene of the shooting.

Bartlesville police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Southeast Edgewood.  The victim told the authorities that Cole was using meth and that she was physically abused and had several arguments.  Officers tried to stop the attack.  Cole struck the officer in the face knocking him to the ground.  The report indicated the officer deployed his Taser which had little or no effect.  Cole continued attacking the officer, drew his weapon, and fired several shots at Cole.  Cole was transported to Jane Phillips Medical Center where he later died.  The OSBI Report mentioned that the officer had no choice to defend himself.
