The Nowata County commissioners held a brief meeting on Monday morning. Absent from the meeting was District 2 commissioner Doug Sonenberg who was tending to a family matter.

After tabling a memorandum of agreement with the Cherokee Nation at the last week’s meeting the commissioners agreed on the dates that were causing the hang up and the resolution was approved. The commissioners declared a few computers a surplus and then approved the disposal of that equipment.

The only item of new business that was not approved was a sales tax renewal agreement. Nowata County Sheriff Sandy Hadley asked in the announcements portion of the meeting that the sheriff’s office be included in the resolution. Commissioner Curtis Barnes explains that the county has tried that before and met opposition.

The sales tax resolution will be addressed at next week’s regularly scheduled next Monday at 9 a.m.
