An Ochelata man was in Washington County Court on Monday for an incident that occurred on Saturday. Zachary Lewis was charged with Assault and Batter, and Domestic Abuse in the presence of a child.

According to an affidavit, a Washington County deputy responded to a call about a family fight. When deputies arrived, they found the mother of two children crying. The mother told the deputies that she had been arguing with Lewis, who “reeked of alcohol” when he got home. The mother says that Lewis took her keys and phone, and she did not feel comfortable leaving her children as she had to go to work, so she told Lewis he would take them to a babysitter and that she knew he was seeing another woman, when Lewis became upset. The mother says that Lewis tried to force her out of the house, but she would not leave, when Lewis tried o shove her toward the door, scraping her arm in the process. According to the affidavit, Lewis punched the door and a grill, leaving blood on the door.

Lewis pleaded No Contest on Monday. His bond was set at $1,000 with a condition that no contact be made with the victim or children. His next court date is set for October 30.
