The City of Bartlesville held a special meeting for the Tax Increment Review Committee today. The meeting consisted mostly of public comment, as the public was heard before action items were taken, where opposition again arose to the Retirement Community project.

However, as the committee moved to their third item on the agenda and discussed the project, the majority of members seemed to be pleased with the updates and new agreements made. In that discussion it was noted that it was expected the 9 year TIF should be paid out in 7 years, and that about 52% of sources used in project construction would come from local sources. Washington County Commissioner, and Washington County Health Department Representative, Mike Dunlap, made the motion and committee members gave their final comments. Before the vote, City Council Representative Alan Gentges explained why he thought voting “yes” was a good idea.

Gentges says that in addition to all of the other positives, this will create jobs.

All members of the committee, with the exception of City Planing Commission Representative Allen Bretz, voted to recommend the project to the Bartlesville City Council. Bretz voted no, as he did in the CPC meeting on Tuesday. Tri County Tech's Lindel Fields was not in attendance.
