Lady Eagles to Rely on Senior Leadership in Season's Second Half
Both Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball teams will start their second time through the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday with a doubleheader matchup against McPherson.
The Lady Eagles are 8-3 in conference and just one game behind first place despite being picked toward the middle of the conference in preseason polls. At 14-5 on the year OKWU has already matched its win total from the 2016-17 season.
Senior guard Tiffany Rieger thinks attitude and experience have made the difference.
The Lady Eagles will be challenged on Saturday taking on a McPherson team that beat them in the first game of the conference season, 91-84.
Fellow senior guard Cheyenne Been says the team is in a different place since the first meeting.
OKWU’s ability to grind out games down the stretch has been a huge strength. The Lady Eagles have won six games decided by ten points or less.
The Eagle men sit at 6-5 in conference and are fighting to keep pace with the rest of the pack. They knocked off McPherson in convincing fashion, 82-66 in the first meeting on November 15.
