The Bartlesville High boys basketball team survived for another week in the 6A playoffs thanks to some late-game heroics from Andrew Gronigan.

A Gronigan three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining gave Bartlesville a 48-47 lead and eventual victory.

Stillwater and BHS had battled back and forth for 36 minutes in the first round Regional game in Broken Arrow. Neither team had a lead bigger than five, although the Pioneers spend the majority of the fourth quarter ahead.

Tayo Dina led the Bruins with 16 points. Gronigan finished with 14, on four three-pointers. Gronigan had hit a last-second three just before the halftime buzzer, as well. That gave Bartlesville a two-point lead after two quarters. BHS also led going into the fourth quarter, until a Pioneer 4-0 run gave Stillwater the lead back.

Both teams traded points in the final minutes. Stillwater's free-throw shooting may have cost it the game. The Pioneers went just 4-13 from the charity stripe, shooting 31-percent in the game. Hunter Staten made one of two free-throws to give Stillwater a two-point lead prior to Gronigan's three that won it.
