City Employees Face Embezzlement Charges
Nine Bartlesville employees appeared in Washington County District Court Friday afternoon to face embezzlement charges. David Bridges, Shawn Collins, Jeffrey Allen, Jimmy Beel, Corey Doggett, Robert Gage, Matthew Hobson, and Jackie Plisek are charged with one misdemeanor count each of embezzlement. The other city employee, Lee Axsom is charged with one count of felony embezzlement. The authorities claim that all nine city employees admitted to having sold water meters and brass fittings that belonged to the City of Bartlesville to ABC Recycling Center. An employee from ABC Recycling Center said the ABC had been buying scrap metal from multiple City of Bartlesville employees who were in City of Bartlesville vehicles. The employee also was able to identify two of the nine employees from a photo lineup. The total money made by the city employees equals almost $1,800. According to the affidavit, an inventory of City of Bartlesville scrap water meters show that approximately 2,800 meters are missing. Eight of the nine suspects pled not guilty on the misdemeanor and will next appear in court on November 13th. All are out on $500 bonds each. Axsom's next court date is November 15th. He's free on a $1,000 bond.
