Commissioners Award Hazard Plan Bid
Washington County Commissioners award a bid and prepare to update the county's hazard mitigation plan. In the meeting held Tuesday morning at the Washington County Courthouse Administration building, the commissioners awarded a bid to Scurlock Industries of North Miami, OK for precast concrete culverts. The bid was one of two and had the cheaper bid. The commission also entered an agreement with Flannagan and Associates for the updating of the hazard mitigation plan at a total budget cost of just over 49 thousand dollars. A hazard mitigation plan is a way to assess risks posed by natural causes like floods or tornadoes. This plan is required by the federal government for the county to receive disaster assistance. The commissioners' next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 21 at 9:30.
