Commissioners Talk Bridges
The Washington County Commissioners approved a grant request and gave an update on an 800 thousand dollar bridge project. The Commissioners approved a 30 thousand dollar grant to the Washington County Sheriff's Office for impaired driving enforcement. The funds will be used to provide overtime pay for deputies to work saturation patrol and possible sobriety checkpoints in the near future. During the commissioners' report portion of the meeting, Commissioner Bouvier gave an update on 4 mile bridge, located East of Oglesby. He said the bridge bids came in under budget at just more than 838 thousand dollars and has been approved by ODOT. Bouvier went on to explain that the funds come from the state and a focus by the governor to upgrade Oklahoma roads and bridges. The Commissioners also accepted for review more than 2 dozen bids for road materials for the next six months. Action on the bids could come as soon as next week.
