Commissioners Hear Presentation
The Nowata County Commissioners Monday morning heard a presentation from Mike Owen of Atlas General Contractors, Matt Graves of AIP Architects, and Jeff Raley of Floyd Law Firm concerning a solution for the courthouse renovation and building a new jail. The main question is how to fund the possible project. Raley recommended to the commissioners to issue General Obligation bonds and create an authority to issue the bonds. After much discussion, the commissioners took no action, but the first step is to let the firms start with talking to county officials and the taxpayers about the concerns and develop a plan for the people to decide.
In other action, the commissioners awarded printing of ballots and other non-ballot materials to Midwest Printing Company and approved to go out for concrete bids.
