Johnson Back In Court
A Bartlesville man who is accused of lying to the authorities about last Saturday morning's house fire that claimed the lives of five people, was back in Washington County District Court Thursday afternoon regarding his $50,000 bond. 65-year old John Mitchell Johnson is charged with one misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer. Bartlesville police interviewed Johnson on January 4th and 6th about the fire. According to a court affidavit, in those interviews Johnson provided false information regarding the events surrounding the incident. Washington County District Attorney Kevin Buchanan told Judge John Gerkin that the reason for a high bond is because of Johnson's unknown address. Buchanan said that Johnson was on the property the night of the fire. Johnson pled no contest on the charge on Tuesday. Sentencing is set for January 22nd. Bond remains at $50,000.
