Thompson Guilty of Manslaughter
A Washington County jury found Stacy Thompson of Bartlesville guilty of first-degree manslaughter Friday afternoon. Thompson was accused in the April death of her husband, Bobby Thompson. The prosecution had asked for a charge of murder with a lesser charge of manslaughter possible. The manslaughter charge has a minimum 4 year sentence up to life in prison and a possible ten thousand dollar fine. After nearly five hours of deliberation, the jury returned its verdict of guilty and suggested the minimum of 4 years in prison for Thompson, along with a fine of $1,250. Defense Attorney Mark Kane thanked the jury for their work and, after saying he was pleased with the outcome, announced that there would be no appeal of the verdict. Kane also asked for an immediate sentencing hearing, which was set by Judge Curtis DeLapp for February 5th at 9AM.
