Fire Prevention Tips
The Washington County Fire Department has been very busy of late, including fighting three different fires Wednesday. Kary Cox, Washington County Emergency Manager, explains that since grass is dormant in the winter, they expect to fight fires during the winter months. Cox goes on to explain that although rain or snow may fall, whenever a dry wind blows, the grasses dry out and can become tinder for grass fires. According to Bill Hollander of the Bartlesville Fire Department, there are a few things that you should be aware of that could start a grass fire.
