Skiatook Sales Tax Increase Voted Down

A new proposal to levy a half-cent sales tax in Skiatook for five years to fund sports facility improvements for area youth has been defeated.

All precincts have reported, according to the unofficial results from the Oklahoma State Election Board.

The numbers came in around 10 p.m. Tuesday, and the vote was 526 votes against the proposal and 470 votes for the proposal.

Then, five more votes were added onto the overall totals bringing the final results to 530 votes against the proposal and 471 votes for the proposal.
