Caney Volunteer Firefighter Dies
Local firefighters were busy with brush fires around the area this week. A Caney, KS volunteer responded to his final call on Wednesday, January 28th, a day that had a Red Flag Warning from the National Weather Service. FOX23 reported that 55-year-old Cliff Sanders collapsed at the firehouse after responding to the fire. He was transported to Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville and then taken to St. Johns in Tulsa where he died on Thursday. Fellow firefighter, Billy Kolb, said arrangements are still being worked out.
Information from the U.S. Fire Administration website, www.apps.usfa.fema.gov ,shows the Cause of Death due to Stress/Overexertion. Funeral services are pending.
