The Bartlesville boy’s golf team placed 13th out of 16 teams on Monday afternoon at the Owasso Ram Classic. The Bruins team score was 703. Cascia Hall won the tournament with 587.

Bartlesville had good individual performances, with a few of them from underclassmen. Senior Andrew Lehman, who has been a state qualifier, led Bartlesville with an 80 and 77. Sophomore Nathan Lee also did well, scoring 87 and 89. And Matt Russell shot a 92 and 89.

Bruin head boy’s golf coach Jeff Rude says he thought the boy’s play was good. Rude says the scores BHS posted are pretty close to what you would expect, but there is room for improvement.

Overall, the biggest issue for the guys is tournament experience. Outside of Lehman, the Bruin’s top scorers are young. Getting used to tournament play is different than playing a round with friends.

Lehman, who will once again be standout guy on the roster, had an average round at Owasso. Rude says that Lehman is capable of putting up lower scores, but some birdie puts didn’t quite fall his way on Monday.

Bartlesville is next in a Jenks-hosted tournament in Tulsa on Thursday.
