A Bartlesville woman is in custody after she allegedly neglected her children, caused one of the baby's death.  27-year old Brittany Cherokee Bell is charged with child neglect.  Back in January 8th, Bartlesville police were called to an apartment in the 5600 block of SE Hazel Road to investigate a report of a dead infant.  According to a court affidavit, the suspect called 9-1-1 to report that she found her three month old girl unresponsive in a crib.

Bell told the police she laid the baby down the crib and watched a video with her two other children and later fell asleep.  Reportedly, Bell changed her story that she laid the baby down the floor.  The authorities found the baby and saw red marks on her legs and head.  Officers searched the apartment and found the residence infested with roaches.  The affidavit states that officers concluded that Bell laid the baby down the floor, fell asleep, and the roaches were able to start feeding on both baby's legs and head.  The police also concluded that Bell could have taken drugs.

Bell's next court date is May 8th.  Bond was set at $10,000.
