The Oklahoma Department of Human Services honored members of a Bartlesville organization during a statewide ceremony held at the Oklahoma History Center.

The Honey Be Quilters received the Ed Birchall Award for Humanitarian Service from DHS Director Ed Lake.  The group has provided more than 600 quilts for children in foster care.  Members say the quilt provides not only security and warmth, but also gives children the sense of ownership and stability in a situation beyond their control.  Additionally, they tell the children they are not forgotten; they matter, and it is a beautiful gift that will impact them for the rest of their lives.

The 2015 Volunteer/Partner Recognition Award Ceremony is an annual event that spotlights Oklahomans who volunteer their time and effort in making positive changes in the lives of others.
