The Oklahoma legislature signed off on legislation last week to create a ban on texting while driving.  House Bill 1965 went to Governor Mary Fallin's desk on April 30th.  Newson6 is reporting that she is expected to sign the bill into law at 2:30 this afternoon.  Fallin will be joined by the families of two OHP troopers during the signing.  The bill is named after the two troopers who were hit during an accident investigation along I-40.  Officials say the driver was updating social media on his phone when he hit Trooper Nicholas Dees and Trooper Kevin Burch.  Dees died as a result of the accident and Burch was severely injured.  The bill states that drivers can be pulled over for texting while driving and fines start at $100.  When the bill is signed into law, Oklahoma will be the 46th state to have a texting while driving ban on the books.  The law goes into effect on November 1st.
