A brand new stand alone building for both the police and fire departments is in the future of Coffeyville. The City Commission held a special meeting on Saturday to decide the issue, which passed by a vote of 4-1, with Commissioner Jim C. Taylor, Jr. the dissenting vote. There were four items on Saturday's agenda: one for the new police building, the second to attach a fire station to the new facility and the other two had to do with renovations to the existing City Hall. Funding for the projects comes from the 70 percent portion of a one-half cent sales tax approved in November 2012.
