Bartlesville City Officials Say a Tax Increase Could be Needed Soon

As municipalities from the federal level all the way down to the city level work to create balance budgets, many are looking for new ways to increase revenue streams. Bartlesville city administrator Mike Bailey said revenues, especially sales tax, have not risen at the pace of inflation. Fifth Ward Councilman Dale Copeland said the city sales tax has not been raised in almost thirty years.

Public Safety takes up more than 50 percent of any municipality's budget and cutting those services is usually not an option.
