The Nowata County Commissioners could appoint a new sheriff when they meet on Monday.  According to the agenda, the commissioners will enter into executive session to discuss the appointment of a sheriff.  James Hallett, who has served as Nowata County Sheriff for 16 years, is retiring.  The appointment will finish the final two years of Hallett's term.  The commissioners will discuss the county's sales tax plan.  Last week, the item was tabled until the numbers became final.  It's not known whether the commissioners will vote on the plan. 

Monday morning's Nowata County Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 9 o'clock at the Annex Meeting Room, across the street from the courthouse.
