Saturday is the final day for voting in this year's Cherokee Nation General Election. Eight tribal seats are open as well as the positions of prinicpal chief and deputy chief. There are 36 candidates in all with four of them vying for the top position. Candidates for Prinicipal Chief are incumbent Bill John Baker, former chief Chad Smith, Will Fourkiller, an Oklahoma state representative and Charlie Soap, the widower of the first female chief, Wilma Mankiller. Cherokee Nation polling places will be open form 7 A.M. until 7 p.M. on Saturday, June 27th. Visit http://www.cherokee.org/ for more information.

We reached out to all four of the candidates for principal chief so they could tell the people of the Cherokee Nation where they stand on several issues but only two responded.
