State Safety Office Campaign to Raise DUI Awareness

The Independence Day holiday period sees a lot more people on the roads and many of them are driving under the influence. The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office reports that in 2014, five people died and 30 people were injured in 103 traffic crashes that involved a driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol in Oklahoma.  State officials ask that those who will imbibe plan other transportation, do so at home or if traveling, stay overnight and keep cab or public transportation telephone numbers readily available.  If you're not going to imbibe, offer to be a designated driver.  If you suspect a driver is under the influence, call *55 or 9-1-1 to report them.  Local, county and state law enforcement agencies are joining together to create statewide impaired driving enforcement teams.  Expect sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the state.  For more information, visit http://enduiok.com/
