A construction project to widen more than one mile of the US-169 corridor through the City of Owasso began Monday, July 6. The $32.7 million project will replace eight bridges, including the structurally deficient truss bridges over Bird Creek.

Work will take place between 56th Street North and 66th Street North and widen a 1.2 mile stretch on Highway 169. ODOT said that all lanes will remain open during construction but there will be a few occasions when lanes will be reduced to accommodate construction. The project is scheduled for completion in February of 2017.

Other Owasso construction projects include the addition of safer, more effective turn signals. Tim Doyle says the first signal should be activated at 19th and Garnett in mid to late July. The second signal will be installed at 86th Street N and 129th East Avenue.

This installation is set to be finished sometime in the fall. For more information visit http://www.cityofowasso.com/
