Bartlesville High basketball standout David Castillo was honored at Monday night’s Bartlesville Public Schools Board of Education meeting.

Bruin head coach Clent Stewart brought Castillo to the meeting to honor his accomplishments with USA Basketball over the past two years.

Castillo qualified for both the U16 and U17 Team USA clubs competing in worldwide World Cup events each of the past two summers. The United States won each tournament, this past summer’s in Spain, and in 2021 in Mexico. This makes Castillo a two-time gold medalist.

Stewart talks about the accomplishments.

On the court in Bartlesville, Castillo helped guide BHS to its first winning season since 2015 this past winter. Bartlesville will return three of its five starters off last year’s club, including Castillo, who will be a junior.

He has offers from more than a dozen high-major college basketball programs and is universally ranked as a top-10 player in the class of 2024.
