Zero Week was not the way the Dewey Bulldoggers had in mind Friday night as they traveled to Adair to take on the defending Class 2A State Champs, the Adair Warriors.  The Warriors began the season where they left off last year picking up a 76-36 victory over the Doggers.

In the first quarter, the Warriors outscored the Doggers 48-14, a quarter that lasted 45 minutes.  After a 24-0 lead over Dewey, the Doggers finally got on the scoreboard when quarterback Blake Timmons scored on a 63-yard run to trail 24-6.  After Adair scored three more touchdowns, running back Hunter Brewer scored on a four-yard touchdown run and trailed 48-14.  Adair would score two more times in the second quarter to take a 62-14 lead.  Dewey scored late in the second quarter when Timmons ran 30 yards for a touchdown.  At the half, the Warriors led 62-20.  Adair would score late in the third quarter and took a 70-20 lead.  On the next drive, Brewer scored on a one-yard run and with Timmons run for a two-point conversion, the Doggers trailed 70-28.  Both teams scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter.  Dewey scored on their final drive of the game when Timmons found Caston Frye for a 15-yard touchdown pass on an 11-play 39 yard drive.  It wasn't enough as Adair would extend their winning streak to 14 games.  Timmons finished with evening with 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns.  He also passed for 199 yards and a touchdown.  Brewer rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns.  As a team, Dewey finished with 469 yards of total offense while Adair finished with 475 yards of total offense.  The Doggers commited four turnovers, two of which were returned for touchdowns.

Dewey falls to 0-1 and will get prepared next Friday night when they will host the Nowata Ironmen. Game time is 7 o'clock.  You can hear the game on KRIG 104.9 FM starting at 6:30.
