The last Frontier Valley Conference double header for Bartlesville High ended like the past few – a split evening in Sapulpa on Friday night, during two regional preview games

The BHS boy’s and girl’s basketball teams look to be trending in different directions as the 6A Regionals are up next for Bartlesville on Thursday and Friday. Jena’ Williams led BHS with 19 points.

The Lady Bruins pummeled Sapulpa, 48-29. The Bruin boys lost it late to the Chieftains, 65-57.

The Lady Bruins (14-8) have now won 10 of their last 13, including five of their last six entering the postseason. BHS will be favored in its do or die game against Sapulpa in the first round of the 6A Regionals.

The Bartlesville girls will face Sapulpa on Thursday at Putnam City West in an elimination game at 6:30. If BHS could win it would likely face PC West on Saturday at 1:30.

On the boy’s side, BHS (9-13) went back and forth with the Chieftains until late in the fourth quarter. Sapulpa pulled away in the final few minutes. Bartlesville cut the SHS lead to five with less than three minutes left but could get no closer.

Tayo Dina had 16 points. Barron Tanner had 22.

The Bruins will face Sapulpa again on Friday night at Midwest City in an elimination game in the 6A Regionals at 6:30. Bartlesville would likely play MWC at 7:00 on Saturday if it could win on Friday.

KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3 will have coverage of Bartlesville High in the postseason on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
