Bartlesville High Football Likely to Stay 6A-II

The OSSAA released its tentative Average Daily Membership numbers on Wednesday afternoon.

Those enrollment numbers determine what classifications high schools in Oklahoma compete in for athletics. Bartlesville High came in at no. 20 overall with an ADM of 1,721.69 students.

That means BHS is in the bottom half of ADM for the 32 teams classified as 6A schools in the state.

Assuming the tentative number becomes official, BHS will again be a 6A-II football school when the OSSAA redistricts for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 gridiron seasons.

When the OSSAA released its 2016 ADM numbers last year, Bartlesville was at no. 16. It looked like it might be in danger of moving to 6A-I with the likes of Jenks, Union, Owasso and Broken Arrow.

Bartlesville has been a 6A-II school for football since the OSSAA split 6A into two divisions prior to the 2014 season.

All sports outside of football still compete in one 32-team 6A classification.
