Bartlesville Regional A Success

Oklahoma Wesleyan’s play in the NAIA World Series is set to begin on Friday, as the Eagles try for a National Championship on the baseball diamond.

It was day two of OKWU’s practice in Lewiston, Idaho on Tuesday. The Eagles visited Harris Field, home to the 10-team double elimination tournament.

Oklahoma Wesleyan qualified for the World Series after winning the Bartlesville Regional in the opening round of the tournament last week. Eagle head baseball coach Matt Parker says the event couldn’t have gone any better.

There were 62 home runs hit in the nine games played at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium last week. Warm weather, high southerly winds and a short porch in centerfield all played into high scoring games. OKWU beat Indiana Tech to advance to the World Series 14-6. Playing in that kind of weather takes some metal resolve.

Oklahoma Wesleyan will open up play in Lewiston against Missouri Baptist at 1:30 PM on Friday CST- that is 11:30 AM Pacific in Idahao.
