Bartlesville Soccer vs. Sand Springs

Both the Bartlesville girl’s and boy’s soccer teams are back in district play on Tuesday evening, hosting Sand Springs.

The Lady Bruins and Bruins have put themselves in a good spot for making the playoffs. They both stand at 2-1 in district games, which puts them in the top four of 6A-3.

The girl’s have a bit more separation than the boys.

Muskogee trails Bartlesville for the fourth spot in district play by two games on the ladies side. On the boy’s side, BHS and Owasso are tied for fourth, and only lead Sand Springs by a game.

The girl’s have won three in a row and five of their last six. That’s a good start, especially considering the Lady Bruins were 1-2 to start the season. Ladies’ head coach Aaron Kuntz says he is pleased with the season thus far.

Kuntz says that the start that Bartlesville head against tougher teams like Jenks and Carl Albert has helped the team once district play began. The Lady Bruins had trouble earlier in the year in their attacking third, meaning transitioning from possession into scoring.

Several players have stepped up during BHS’ winning streak. Danielle King, Abi Cox and Kelsie Eason are three that Kuntz highlighted.

Overall, Kuntz likes that the Lady Bruin’s can control their playoff destiny, starting on Tuesday with Sand Springs.

That is the most any team can ask for in mid-April.

The girl's host the Lady Sandites at 6:00, while the boys play right after. Both games will be at Custer Stadium.
