Bartlesville Splits with Bixby

It was another split evening for Bartlesville on its senior night Tuesday at Bruin Fieldhouse.

Bixby came to town for the second to last regular season double-header of the season. The Lady Bruins outlasted the Lady Spartans 49-30, while the Bruin boys fell to Bixby late, 58-54.

On the girl’s side, BHS scored 20 points in the third quarter to pull away from Bixby. Bartlesville led 20-13 at halftime before the offense started making shots.

Jena’ Williams was the only Lady Bruin in double-figures with 15. Lauren Richter had seven on her senior night. Sydney Cole played the final minutes as Bartlesville’s other senior.

The Lady Bruins (13-8) have won nine of their last 12 heading into a matchup against a good Sapulpa team on Friday to round out Frontier Valley Conference play.


For the boy’s, it was another close-game that Bartlesville’s opponent pulled out in the final minute.

The Bruins led 52-51 after a Barron Tanner offensive rebound put-back with 1:45 to play. Bixby got a three-pointer and subsequent layup that gave the Spartans back a 56-52 lead with a minute remaining, but the Bruins couldn’t get any closer than two.

Bartlesville (9-12) forced a turnover down 56-54 with 20 seconds remaining, but couldn’t get a bucket.

Bixby made two free-throws to ice the game with less than five seconds remaining. BHS has lost five straight.

Senior AJ Archambo started the game despite his injury, he was quickly subbed out. Tanner and Matt Simpson both finished up their careers at Bruin Fieldhouse. Tanner led BHS with 21 points. 

Both Bartlesville teams finish out the regular season on Friday at Sapulpa. Girl’s tip at six-30 with the boys to follow around 8:00 on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
