BHS Hoops Split at BA

The Bruin boys continue to show their potential, while the Lady Bruins are still flexing as one of the best teams in Oklahoma.

It was a split night in a Frontier Valley Conference double-header at Broken Arrow on Tuesday, with the Lady Bruins winning and the Bruin boys losing.

The Bartlesville girls started out blistering hot and never looked back. Jena' Williams scored the first 14 points for BHS, and the Lady Bruins rolled, blasting Broken Arrow 54-21.

Williams hit seven three-pointers, including four in the first quarter to expand the Lady Bruins lead.

The Bartlesville starters played sparingly in the final quarter. BHS is still undefeated at 10-0 and ranked at No. 2 in 6A.

On the guy’s side, things were close throughout until a tough fourth quarter. Bartlesville trailed Broken Arrow by two entering the fourth, and that is when the Tigers outscored the Bruins 23-6, and topped Bartlesville by a final of 59-40.

A BHS zone defense slowed down BA and gave Bartlesville a chance. This Tayo Dina three-pointer kept the Bruins close late in the third quarter.

Bartlesville turnovers would lead to some break away opportunities for Broken Arrow, and the Tigers ran away with the game in the final eight minutes.

The Bruins are 4-6. Both teams next play at Union on Friday evening.
