Bartlesville High boys’ and girls’ basketball opened up their seasons, along with many other clubs throughout Northeast Oklahoma on Friday night

The Bruin guys rolled as the Bartlesville girls faltered in Bartlesville’s Oklahoma-openers against Sapulpa.

Bartlesville guys blew out Sapulpa 85-65 at Bruin Field House.

The Bruins scored 50 points in the second half and rolled to the win. BHS led by eight at the end of the first, then 16 at halftime.

It was the second-highest point total in David Castillo’s career that served as the catalyst. Castillo went for 42 points, going 11-12 from the free throw line and 6-13 from beyond the arc. It is the third time in his Bruin career that he has gone for more than 40-points.

Here is the three-pointer that carried him over the marker.

Booker T. transfer Michael Smith III was huge in his first home game at BHS. Smith scored 23 on 10-12 shooting.

This spin move early gave the Bruins some cushion in their lead.

The win puts BHS at 1-1 on the guy’s side after a season-opening loss in Texas last weekend. Bartlesville will face a tougher task in Bixby at home on Tuesday.

On the girl's side, the Lady Bruins ran into a buzz saw, as Sapulpa beat BHS 93-43. KK Duncan scored 19-points to lead Bartlesville.
