The Bartlesville High baseball team still can’t eke out a close win.

BHS lost in eight innings at Union on Tuesday evening 8-7.

The Bruins were one strike away from winning the game when the Redskins hit a walk-off basehit with two outs and two strikes with runners on second and third.

Bartlesville had scrapped its way back into the game after trailing by two entering the seventh inning. BHS was also one-strike away from losing themselves in the top of the seventh when Grant Yardley came through with a clutch hit to tie it.

Bartlesville would hold Union scoreless in the bottom of the frame, then the Bruins took the lead by one in the eighth, but it still wasn’t quite enough.

Jone Cone, Easton Hammonds, AJ Archambo, Lucas Reiftfors and Yardley all had two hits. Archambo hit a solo home run as one of his base knocks.

BHS falls to 1-8-1 on the season.

The Bruins will host their own Bruin Classic this weekend at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.
